第一，蚌埠有着辉煌的历史！我们先来说说蚌埠的近代史。解放前，随着铁路运输的发展，蚌埠经济迅速发展。由于蚌埠特殊的地理位置，交通四通八达。素有“火车拉动的城市”之称，是重要的交通枢纽。一段时期内，它被视为安徽省省会。当时的合肥只是一个小弟，综合经济实力根本无法与蚌埠相比。蚌埠集海、陆、空军事院校、空军航空航天大学、陆军坦克学院和汽车管理学院、海军舰艇士官学院以及多个科研院所。这些都是蚌埠人的骄傲。
第二，蚌埠人长期居住在合肥！新中国成立后，自从合肥被定为安徽省省会后，一切资源明显开始向合肥倾斜。但最让蚌埠人愤怒的是，合肥的发展不是靠自身能力，而是靠掠夺周边有利资源来发展壮大自己。这有点不合理。你可以忘记金融倾斜，但你怎么能公然抢劫呢？比如原来的蚌埠铁路局，这是永远的痛：曾经管辖苏皖两省铁路的蚌埠铁路局，现在已经搬到了合肥，还有淮河管委会等等。其中一些确实很难摆上台面。无论如何，谈论它都会让我哭泣。有些人不明白，蚌埠的电话区号是0552，但车牌号是WanC。事实上，蚌埠曾经是WanB。因为省城被合肥抢了，资源被掠夺，政策不支持，导致发展跟不上，经济下滑。于是安徽B就被经济比较好的芜湖抢走了。如果我们离合肥比较远，像芜湖、马鞍山，也许就不会出现这种情况，因为蚌埠离合肥太近了，就像合肥的粮仓和后花园一样，我们可以得到我们需要的东西，造成蚌埠的资源匮乏到了逐渐撤离，经济开始下滑。
三是蚌埠人有不屈不挠的精神。尽管如此，蚌埠人民仍然充满斗志，即使没有条件也会创造条件。经过多年来多位领导的不断努力和坚持，几项重要的资源得以保留。比如财经大学等高等院校、多家军事院校和科研院所、一些高新技术企业，为蚌埠奋力前行提供了良好的技术基础和学术优势。近年来，虽然与合肥、芜湖等省会城市还有较大差距，但蚌埠的玻璃、丰源集团以及一些高新技术企业正在强势追赶。相信在未来的长三角一体化进程中，蚌埠一定能够凭借自身的产业基础和区位优势有所作为！
